Corporate Social Responsibility
JTC is an organisation with a heart. We are committed to responsible and sustainable environmental practices and constantly encourage our employees to make a positive difference to the communities in which we operate.
Environment Sustainability
As the largest industrial property developer in Singapore, we have initiated numerous business processes that set out to reduce the adverse impact of industrial activities within our estates on the environment. These include carrying out Environmental Impact Analysis and Environmental Baseline Studies when our projects are in the planning stages.
Environmental practices are very much a part of our workplace culture. On-going initiatives include:
- Compiling an environmental practices staff handbook.
- Raising environmental awareness amongst staff. We disseminate guidelines on the 3Rs (reuse, recycle and reduce), screen environmental documentaries during lunch-time and organise educational visits.
Community Engagement
JTC has a tradition of active community service. In 2001, JTC was awarded the President's Social Service Award in the Formal Group / Non-Profit / Public Sector Category. This prestigious award, conferred by the President of the Republic of Singapore, honours outstanding voluntary contributions made to the social service sector.
JTC has adopted the theme, "Cherishing the Silver Generation, Inspiring the Future Leaders for our community work from FY2008 to 2010. In line with this theme, we will work with AWWA Community Home for Senior Citizens and MINDS Fernvale Gardens School to devise programmes and activities that allow our staff to be meaningfully engaged in community work.
To further promote a spirit of volunteerism amongst staff, the Corporation has extended two days of community service leave per year to allow staff to participate in community activities.
JTC also actively raises funds for various community causes such as The President's Challenge and The Community Chest. In 2009, JTC was the lead agency in organising the MTI Borderless Day Charity Walk at the Southern Ridges. Together with MTI and 10 other government agencies, we raised a total of S$110,500 for the President's Challenge 2009.
