Our aim is to get all employees across JTC involved in CSR initiatives, and engaged in volunteer opportunities, primarily with our local communities. This helps to foster a culture of volunteerism among JTC staff.
Focus on the Community

At JTC, service has been a hallmark of our company’s history. This service culture comes to life every time we help a customer, and we show the same care and commitment to service in our communities.

Continuing our long tradition of active participation in community service, we have in place programmes and activities that encourage a strong spirit of community service amongst our staff. We focus our efforts on giving the most-needed assistance to improve the quality of life in the communities where we operate.

Positive Actions

From FY2010 to FY2012, our charity theme is “Cherishing the Silver Generation, Inspiring the Future Leaders”. Guided by this, we have adopted three additional organisations:
  • AWWA Community Home for Senior Citizens as our outreach to the elderly
  • MINDS Fernvale Gardens School as our outreach to children and youths
  • Adopt-A-Rental Block Scheme at Clementi Division.
JTC had also initiated an overseas community trip to Cambodia to help improve the lives of the villagers in Veal Lpeak, Kg Thom Province. There, JTC volunteers helped to build a school classroom and toilet for the village.

Awards

Recognising the active social and community spirit within the organisation, JTC was presented with two community service awards.
  • President’s Social Service Award
For outstanding voluntary contributions made to the service sector.
  • SHARE Award (Bronze) by the Community Chest
For high employee participation rate in the SHARE programme, a monthly donation scheme that helps fund Community Chest programmes.

  • Best CSR Practices, HRM Awards 2012

Touching Communities

“As we get caught up in the daily grind of work life, it is often too easy to forget about helping others in need. To me, community service is a calling. It requires one to consciously put aside precious time and resources to reach out to someone else,” says Lim Ai Ting, a Principal Land Resource Analyst from the Land Planning Division. “While our Corporate Social Responsibility team can intensify their efforts in creating awareness amongst staff, it is up to us as individuals to adopt a more giving mindset, for the good of the community.”

Ai Ting is the deserving winner of JTC's Outstanding Community Service Award for 2010. While coping with challenging work demands and deadlines, she has responded enthusiastically towards serving the community.
