JTC cares for the environment. We are mindful of the impact of our activities on the environment, and have  implemented several key IT and non-IT initiatives to promote greater environmental awareness.

Focus on the Environment

Key initiatives include movie screenings and regular talks that enhance staff awareness of the environment. We are committed to spreading the green message.

Positive Actions

JTC has initiated community projects within the organisation, including Green IT Projects, Green Office and Green Practices. These efforts help staff  to nurture a sense of respect and concern for our environment so that going green becomes almost second nature to them. The awards that we receive are a testament to our strong commitment to environmental sustainability.

Awards

Known in the industry for its "green" corporate culture, JTC has been conferred several accolades for our environmentally-friendly initiatives and projects.
  • BCA Green Mark Award 2011 by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA)
For our exemplary green projects that promote sustainability in the built environment.
  • BCA-NParks Green Mark Platinum Award
For design that ensures long-term sustainable balance of the development’s commercial needs and the site’s natural biodiversity. Our CleanTech Park is the first in Singapore to achieve this award.
Different Shades of Green
Within JTC, we also have our very own green champions. They are the winners of the JTC Outstanding Environment Envoy Award and Green Challenge Award.

Our dual green champions, George and William, have won awards successively for two years running. Their tireless enthusiasm and strong belief in caring for the environment have translated into numerous innovations being implemented at the Chinese and Japanese Gardens. These have resulted in substantial savings in water usage at the gardens. The dynamic duo have also taken the initiative to monitor carbon measurements using the carbon sequestration method, a pioneering effort in Singapore.

The Green Challenge Award was created with the aim of involving JTC staff in the development of CleanTech One. Staff were encouraged to contribute green ideas for sustainable development. One winning entry proposed the idea of installing "green" devices (in the form of panels) at the lobby of CleanTech One. When pedestrians step on these panels, electricity will be generated to power lighting devices or stored in batteries for other applications.
