Eligibility
Q1: Can the principal investigator be a specialist supplier or manufacturer? Yes, a specialist supplier or manufacturer with relevant experience and expertise can be the principal investigator.
Q2: Can an individual be a lead organization? No. Any individual who wish to submit a proposal for financial funding must partner with a lead organization.
Evaluation Process
Q3: What are the basic steps in the application process? Upon receipt of your proposal, JTC will carry out a preliminary assessment of your application. If the project is innovative and meets our requirements, we will work with you on the application. The application will be routed to the relevant committees for endorsement and approval. We will inform you on whether a presentation is required for your application.
Q4: The proposal submitted may contain sensitive information. How can the information be protected from other competitor? Relevant privileged or confidential information should be disclosed to help convey a better understanding of the project. However, such information must be clearly marked in the proposal.
Funding
Q5: What is the amount of funding that I can get? We will provide funding up to a maximum of $1 million per proposal depending on the quality of the proposal and implementation potential.
Q6: Should organization bill JTC for the GST? If the organization is non-GST registered and where expenses incurred upfront is inclusive of GST, the organization can bill JTC on the amount that is inclusive of GST. Where the organization is GST registered, they have to ensure the correctness of the expenses billed and the charging of GST in their e-invoice to JTC.
Q7: Does the fund support manpower cost of overseas researchers from the parent company? The fund will support a portion of the manpower cost for personnel that are working in Singapore. This is to help build up local expertise in key areas such as sustainable development. The parent company should consider funding their overseas-based researchers.
Q8: I am from a foreign firm. Can I apply for the fund? Applications must be from a Singapore-based organization. This includes Singapore-registered companies, tertiary institutions and research institutions. Applicants will be using Singapore as a base to own, manage and exploit all intellectual property rights developed.
Q9: Upon approval of the application, how do we seek additional funding if required? You may send in your request for additional funding which must include justifications for such funds. Your request will be evaluated by our evaluating committee.
Project Duration
Q10: What is the maximum duration of the project? The trial period of the proposed project is capped at a maximum of 1 year.
Q11: Can we request for an extension of the project completion date? You are required to submit your request for an extension before the project completion date. Reasons for the extension must be clearly stated. Any extensions (if granted) will not exceed more than six months. |
