The media sector is one of Singapore’s fast-growing Industries. In 2005, it reported an annual turnover of $18.2 billion, contributing $4.9 billion value-add to the country’s GDP and employs almost 55,000 people. Award-winning films, games and animation, and major international co-productions have taken place in Singapore. Global media giants such as Lucasfilm, Ubisoft and Rainbow SpA have also established presence in Singapore.

To respond to the country’s rapidly expanding media sector, the government created Mediapolis, a 19 hectares development in one-north. It is a unique collaboration between four government agencies – the Media Development Authority, JTC Corporation as the master developer, Infocomm Development Authority and the Economic Development Board.

Envisioned to become Singapore’s self-contained media ecosystem comprising sound stages with green screen capabilities, digital production and broadcast facilities and media schools, the Mediapolis is set to position Singapore as the region’s media hub.
