Unique features are incorporated into the design of this world-class science and technology facility. Phase 1 is the first structure in Singapore to use single Super-Column, Central-Core Method, which eliminates need for peripheral columns, with its walls reinforced with steel. Super Slabs are pre-stressed with cables to curve ends, creating a U-shape weight of 5 floors placed on top to complete level slab. Gyrating towers prevent the building from swaying back and forth during strong winds and the skybridges lock the towers firmly, securing the tops and bottoms of the building.
