10 WINNING NAMES PICKED FOR FUSIONOPOLIS @ one-north

Singapore, 10 September 2008: JTC Corporation (JTC) is pleased to announce the 10 winning entries for the contest to name the buildings at Fusionopolis. These 10 names were selected from close to 1,600 entries submitted in a 13-week online contest from 26 Nov 07 to 13 Jan 08. The theme of the contest was “Fusionopolis@one-north: Mark Your Legacy by Naming the Buildings of the Iconic Hub”.

2.      Phase 1 of Fusionopolis, which comprises 2 towers, has been completed and will be named Connexis and Symbiosis when it is officially opened in Oct 2008. The rest of the projects are scheduled to be completed in different phases, with some estimated to be completed beyond 2012 (the list of names and descriptions are attached at Annex A).

3.      A review panel, comprising well known personalities from various disciplines and sectors of society, conducted a rigorous selection process to shortlist and select the 10 winning entries (the panel list can be found at Annex B).

4.      Mr Philip Su, Assistant Chief Executive Officer, JTC Corporation said, “We are indeed heartened by the enthusiastic response to the naming contest. We wanted to give the public an opportunity to be part of the making of Fusionopolis @ one-north, Singapore’s iconic development. Each of these 10 names serves as an extension of the physical embodiment of what Fusionopolis represents - a fusion of innovative new ideas that will catalyse scientific breakthroughs for the emerging industry clusters as well as to be the cradle of knowledge where next generation applications are incubated and test-bedded.”

5.      The ten winners have been notified and have from now till end September to collect their prizes. The winners span a broad spectrum of our society. Among them are a consultant, a website designer, a film producer, engineers, a marketing communications specialist, a property executive, a housewife and students.

6. Fusionopolis is the latest addition to one-north. It is also the first integrated development within one-north which embraces the work-live-play-learn elements within a building. Dedicated specially to R&D in Infocomms, Media, Science and Engineering industries, Fusionopolis is envisioned to be a powerhouse which infuses creativity with cutting-edge scientific ideas and ingenious enterprising initiatives that will foster multidisciplinary collaborations for the development of next-generation technologies. The Fusionopolis naming contest which was jointly organised by JTC and A*STAR, was aimed at giving the public a chance to participate in this milestone development at one-north.
