Singapore, 15 September 2008   Today, JTC Chairman, Mr Cedric Foo and JTC CEO, Mrs Ow Foong Pheng, jointly presented a cheque totalling S$705,200 to President S R Nathan, in support of The President’s Challenge 2008 at JTC’s 40th Anniversary Charity Run Prize and Cheque Presentation ceremony. The sum was collectively raised through pledge cards and donations from JTC’s partners, customers, subsidiaries and staff.

2          This morning, more than 800 participants comprising staff from JTC, its customers, subsidiaries, business partners and government agencies under the Ministry of Trade & Industry (MTI) participated in JTC’s 40th Anniversary Charity Run.  It was literally a run down memory lane as the route took participants from JTC’s birthplace at Taman Jurong to the JTC Summit at Jurong East. Chairman of JTC, Mr Cedric Foo flagged off the run at Taman Jurong, the site of JTC’s first office in 1968. At particular junctures along the 4 km route, participants were greeted with prominent markers depicting the highlights of each decade of industrialization in Singapore.

3          In his welcome remarks at the prize and cheque presentation ceremony,  Chairman of JTC, Mr Cedric Foo said, “What has made this event more memorable is having so many of our partners, customers, subsidiaries and MTI agencies, participating in the run today. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to all for responding to the call to help the less fortunate. We collectively raised a total sum of S$705,200 for President’s Challenge ’08. The amount far exceeded our original target of S$400,000. The generosity shown by our customers and business partners and Team JTC is truly heartwarming.”

4          The top five corporate donors are as follows: Ascendas Pte Ltd ($52,756), Rock Productions Pte Ltd ($50,000), Jurong Port ($26,285), Hyundai Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd ($20,000) and Kim Hock Corporation Pte Ltd ($20,000).
