Good morning.
On behalf of JTC, I would like to thank His Excellency, President S R Nathan, for gracing JTC’s 40th Anniversary Charity Run.
- Today’s event is of special significance to us at JTC in more ways than one. It is a way to commemorate JTC’s 40th anniversary as we literally walked down memory lane from our first home in Taman Jurong to the JTC Summit at Jurong East. Making the event more memorable is having so many of our partners, customers, subsidiaries and MTI agencies, to form the 800 participants today. More importantly, as we reflect on our 40-year achievements, we rallied and garnered the support of our colleagues, partners and customers in a fund raising effort to support the President’s Challenge 2008. It is playing our part as active and caring citizens of the nation that makes today’s event meaningful and fulfilling.
- I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to all for responding to the call to help the less fortunate. We collectively raised a total sum of S$705,200 for President’s Challenge 08. The amount exceeded our original target of S$400,000. The generosity shown by our customers and business partners and Team JTC is truly heartwarming. Let us applaud their generosity.
- Above all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank His Excellency, President Nathan for inspiring us through The President’s Challenge to play our part however small in reaching out to bring more comfort and hope to the less fortunate. We want to congratulate The President’s Challenge for raising a total of S$62 million for over 400 beneficiaries over the last 8 years. Last year was an exceptional year when The President’s Challenge received over S$12m in donations. We are deeply gratified for the opportunity to rally together and raise funds to support The President’s Challenge.
- It leaves me now to thank all our colleagues, partners and friends who are with us today. My heartfelt thanks to all of you for your unstinting support, generous spirit and a caring heart.
