Fire Evacuation Drill
Procedure during a Fire Drill
You will be given advanced notice of the date and approximate time of the fire drill through mails and notices displayed in the common lobbies and notice board. Prior to the drill date, you will be invited to send a representative to attend a Tenants’ Committee (Fire Safety) Meeting so that we can brief you on the fire emergency plan, the fire drill and some of the issues related to fire safety and emergency planning.
On the day of the fire drill, the exercise will commence upon the activation of the fire alarm system. Upon hearing the Evacuation Alarm and/or when given instructions to evacuate the building, all personnel shall take the following actions:
- Lock important files, cash, shut down machines etc. and shut all doors if possible.
- Evacuate immediately via the nearest exits in an orderly manner.
- Proceed to the Assembly Area, guided by their respective fire wardens or company representatives.
(Refer to Appendix IV of the Fire Emergency Plan for the location of the Assembly Area)
Please observe the follwoing during evacuation:
- Do not panic but walk quickly down the nearest staircase.
- Do not return to collect personal belongings.
- Do not re-enter the room or floor unless instructed to do so.
- Do not use the lifts.
After evacuation:
- All staff or occupants should remain in the assembly area and the company’s representative must conduct a head count and submit the Company Fire Drill Evacuation Status Report to the Fire Safety Manager.
- All staff or occupants shall not re-enter the building until the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) or Fire Safety Manager has given clearance to do so.
Things to look out for during a Fire Drill

Company should take this opportunity to put their established Emergency Response Plan (ERP) to test.

For security purposes, companies are advised to lock up their premises or to allow for an employee to remain in the office to man the telephone during the fire drill.

Please do not use the lift during the fire drill. All passenger lifts will be set to deactivate at Level 1.

A buddy should be assigned to look after employees with disabilities or are pregnant. The role of the buddy will be to assist these people to evacuate safely from the building.
