Our aspiration is to create an exciting place of vision and inspiration.

Imagine an environment bounded only by imagination itself. Where you can work, live and be inspired by leading scientists, researchers and technopreneurs from around the world. Where groundbreaking ideas are born from a stroll in the park and conventions challenged over coffee at a sidewalk cafe. Where anything is possible. Welcome to one-north - a vibrant place and a lifestyle choice for the most creative minds of the new economy. A small piece of Singapore with a big part to play in shaping the future.

A fun place that is always pulsating, never dull and never short of ideas, Chic apartments, open green spaces, arts and culture, sports and recreation. one-north has a creative atmosphere which seamlessly integrates all the elements of the mix.

FusionopolisBiopolis, Asia's home for Biomedical Sciences

Biopolis is a purpose-built biomedical R&D hub at one-north. It will house key public research institutes and private research organizations. Centrally located within walking distance to the Buona Vista MRT Station, Biopolis is also situated in close proximity to National University of Singapore and the National University Hospital.

Developed by JTC Corporation (JTC) at a cost of S$500 million, Phase 1 of The Biopolis comprises a cluster of seven buildings which are linked by skybridges. It offers a built-up area of 185,000 sqm (2 million sq ft). Two of the seven buildings, Chromos and Helios, are dedicated to biomedical players from the private sector. The other five (Centros, Genome, Matrix, Nanos and Proteos) house the biomedical research institutes of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore’s lead agency for scientific research and development under the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Currently, Biopolis Phase 1 is almost at full occupancy. It is home to more than 2,000 Scientists, Researchers, Technicians and Administrators. The research community is fully supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure including shared resources and services catering to the full spectrum of R&D activities. Phase 2 of The Biopolis was constructed to cater to the growing demand for biomedical and R&D space. Comprising two research buildings (Neuros and Immunos), Phase 2 yielded an additional 37,000 sqm (400,000 sq ft) of built-up area. Officially opened in October 2006, Phase 2 is now over 80% occupied.

Vista Xchange is the corporate and business support Xchange in one-north. Covering 17 hectares in land area, it houses high-rise offices, a business hotel, retail-cum-entertainment centres and quality residential developments. It is also the transport hub for one-north. At Vista Xchange, the combination of offices, hotels, shops, entertainment, convention facilities and corporate retreat villas bring out the excitement of 24/7 city centre living.

one-north Park

Spanning 16 hectares in land area and divided into 13 land parcels, the one-north Park is a key component of the one-north master plan. It is a continuous, multi-purpose spine of landscaped spaces that flows through the entire one-north site and provides a strong visual complement to the ultra modern designed buildings abutting it. one-north Park is a principal relief space for one-north’s work, live, play, and learn communities. It is the ideal venue for informal gatherings, spontaneous events and a meeting point for talents across industries to interact and exchange knowledge.

Rochester Park

Rochester Park is one of the three preserved heritage sites in one-north. Where green space meets urban space in an eclectic mix of styles, this place has 11 units of bungalows for interim periods of commercial/retail usage. These bungalows, set amidst tree-lined winding roads, accommodate a variety of lifestyles such as themed restaurants with al-fresco dining as well as spas and wellness centres. To retain the heritage and rustic environment in Rochester Park, the exterior façade of the bungalows were conserved. However, the interior of the bungalows was allowed to be customised to suit the individual tenant’s requirements.

Wessex Estate

Nestled amid lush green vegetation, Wessex Estate is a colonial-style residential estate which JTC has re-adapted into a creative enclave. It comprises a total of 26 walk-up apartment blocks and 58 semi-detached houses which spread across the entire 28 ha of land. Well complemented by vast and green open spaces, the estate is a picture of serene tranquility. Surrounded by open spaces and trees, the estate provides a soothing and relaxing ambience for its residents. Constructed around the 1940’s, the Black and White walk-up apartments and semi-detached houses have now become home to a diverse community of artists, designers and acting professionals. As part of the one-north development initiative, Wessex Estate is slated to be a hub for the creative enclave.

JTC hopes to continue building and enhancing the environment at Wessex to turn it into an enclave for the creative community, thereby providing a platform for creative individuals to meet, interact, and share experiences and knowledge. It is envisaged that the Wessex community will continue to expand and the environment enhanced to be more conducive for growing the creative cluster.

Work Lofts @ Wessex

While the properties in the estate are preserved and kept as residential homes, JTC also acknowledged the need to rejuvenate the estate through adaptive reuse of spaces, to add value to this heritage area.  Recognising the need to make room for new ways of working and living while preserving a haven of old world charm, 4 walk-up apartment blocks have been exquisitely restored and revamped, offering 24 experimental work lofts ideal for home-offices and studio set-ups for the creative industry. In the course of renovation, the need to retain the ambience as well as unique architectural details is acknowledged and the sense and quality of space preserved. Each of the unique work lofts features an open office/studio space with a private bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and a large balcony space.

Colbar

The relocation of the 50-year old Colbar - a nostalgic eating house and popular watering hole familiar to many in Singapore -from Jalan Hang Jebat to Wessex, has further injected new life into the Wessex heritage area. To make way for the construction of a new major semi-expressway, 50-year old Colbar was relocated from its existing premises at Jln Hang Jebat to a newly built premises, reconstructed to a close identical from its original premises, at Wessex Esate in 2003. In line with one-north's vision to preserve heritage elements, the architecture of the original Colbar was replicated and reconstructed in the new location.

Wessex Village Square

Wessex Village Square is a 7,000 sq ft multi-purpose space with F&B and specialty retail, providing services and amenities to serve the community of Wessex Estate as well as the arts community, and most importantly for anyone who enjoys the arts. Integrating Colbar, Wessex Village Square will be the heart of Wessex Estate where regular community events can be held. Wessex Village Square is envisaged as a vibrant hub where creative individuals congregate, exchange and experience their passion and profession. Artists and designers would be given the opportunity to showcase their talents and exhibit their works.

The premises and its surrounding areas would be used for art exhibitions, music/dance recitals and other various art programmes ranging from art competition venues, art-themed flea markets/bazaars, to painting/sculpture demonstrations and various art promotion events. The entire Wessex Village Square will be a launch pad for both young budding and veteran artists to present their unique works of art to the public and serve as a playground for the creative community to interact and explore new ideas.
