JTC's Open Innovation Call

Origins

JTC's Open Innovation Call programme was launched in 2015 to seek innovative ideas and solutions from industries and research institutions to address challenges in the planning, development and management of industrial infrastructure.

Background

Each Open Innovation Call is launched with an overall research theme and a few challenge statements focusing on a specific area of the building life cycle. JTC aims to identify industry players with effective and novel concepts, and support and catalyse the development of new technologies that will transform the way we plan, design, build and manage our buildings and estates. The desired outcomes are to promote sustainability, manage life cycle costing, and improve safety and productivity throughout a building's life cycle.

Building's Life Cycle

Through the Open Innovation Call, JTC provides co-funding in applied research & development, test-bed, and/or pilot demonstrations in selected JTC developments. The intention is to crowdsource effective and novel solutions that are easy to implement. Companies with awarded proposals will work alongside JTC research engineers, operations specialists, and building and estate owners to co-create and co-develop these solutions. Solutions that are successfully developed and test-bedded may be adopted and deployed by JTC in our buildings and/or estates.

With the opportunity to test the feasibility of their ideas in the real-life environment of JTC's buildings and estates, companies can defray development costs, reduce their business risk and bring their ideas to market faster.
