Phase 4: Rejuvenation

As buildings get older, they are rejuvenated or replaced to ensure best use of scarce land and natural resources. Data analytics is used to study occupancy and movement characteristics, among other things, to optimise lighting and cooling levels to reduce energy wastage. Older buildings are retrofitted with new features such as photovoltaic panels, low-emissivity glass, and smart sensors to increase sustainability and to meet guidelines. Where necessary, mature developments and estates are repurposed into more productive and efficient future-ready spaces.
